Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ No, I swear by this country (Mecca), 1 And you are free to live upon it, -- 2 And by the begetter and that which he begat, 3 indeed, We created man in trouble. 4 Does He think that no one will ever have control over him? 5 (He boasts and shows off) saying, "I have spent a great deal of money (for the cause of God)". 6 Thinketh he that none beholdeth him? 7 Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?- 8 a tongue, and two lips? 9 And shown him the two ways (good and evil)? 10 Yet, he has not entered into Aqaba 11 And what will make you know the path that is steep? 12 (It is) to free a slave, 13 or giving food upon a day of hunger 14 The orphan near in relationship, 15 and downtrodden destitute person, (so that he would be of) 16 Then he is of those who believe and charge one another to show patience, and charge one another to show compassion. 17 These are the People of the Right Hand. 18 And those who disbelieve in Our signs, they are the Companions of the Left Hand; 19 with the Fire closed above them. 20
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
