۞ “Gather all the unjust persons and their spouses, and all that they used to worship!” – 22 “Instead of Allah – and herd them to the path leading to hell.” 23 and stop them there for questioning: 24 They will be asked, "Why do you not help each other?" 25 Nay, but on that Day they would willingly surrender [to God]; 26 but [since it will be too late,] they will turn upon one another, demanding of each other [to relieve them of the burden of their past sins]. 27 They shall say: Surely you used to come to us from the right side. 28 They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith! 29 We had no power over you. In fact, you were a people rebellious. 30 But now our Lord's word has come true against us: truly, we are bound to taste [the punishment]. 31 We led you astray as we were ourselves astray." 32 And verily, on that Day they all will share in their common suffering. 33 Verily, thus shall We deal with all who were lost in sin: 34 for when it was said to them, 'There is no god but God,' they were ever waxing proud, 35 and replied, "Shall we then give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 Aye! he hath come with the truth, and he confesseth to the sent ones. 37 Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom - 38 And you will be requited nothing except for what you used to do (evil deeds, sins, and Allah's disobedience which you used to do in this world); 39 Save the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 40 For them is a known sustenance, 41 Fruits of every kind, and they will be honoured 42 in the Gardens of Bliss. 43 facing one another [in love] upon thrones of happiness. 44 Round will be passed to them a Cup from a clear-flowing fountain, 45 White, delicious to those who drink. 46 No headiness there shall be therein, nor shall they be therewith inebriated. 47 And with them shall be those who restrain the eyes, having beautiful eyes; 48 As if they were [delicate] eggs, well-protected. 49 So one among them turns to the other, questioning. – 50 One of them speaks thus: "Behold, I had [on earth] a close companion 51 who would say: "Are you among the believers (of the resurrection)? 52 What! when we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then be certainly brought to judgment? 53 [And] he adds: "Would you like to look [and see him]?" 54 and then he looks and sees that [companion of his] in the midst of the blazing fire, 55 He says, 'By God, wellnigh thou didst destroy me; 56 And had it not been for the favor of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought up. 57 (Another will say:)"Is it true, we are not going to die 58 Saving our former death, and are we not to be punished? 59 “This is, most certainly, the supreme success.” 60 For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of al-Zaqqum? 62 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? 63 It is a tree that grows in the nethermost part of Hell. 64 its spathes are as the heads of Satans, 65 Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 And afterward, lo! thereupon they have a drink of boiling water 67 Then surely their return is towards hell. 68 They had found their fathers astray, 69 so they are rushing to follow in their footsteps. 70 And indeed before them, most of the former people went astray. 71 though We had sent warners among them. 72 See then the end of those who were warned, 73 Except the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, and true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 74
