The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the Mount 1 And the Scripture inscribed 2 In a Scroll unfolded; 3 by the House inhabited 4 By the Canopy Raised High; 5 Consider the surf-swollen sea! 6 the punishment of your Lord shall certainly come to pass, 7 There shall be none to avert it; 8 (It shall come to pass) on the Day when the heaven will convulse in a great convulsion, 9 and the mountains shall violently fly about. 10 woe that day unto those that cry lies, 11 those who are in plunging, playing. 12 The day on which they shall be driven away to the fire of hell with violence. 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 “So is this magic, or are you unable to see?” 15 Burn in its heat. It is all the same for you whether you exercise patience or not; This is the recompense for your deeds". 16 The pious will live in bountiful Paradise, 17 rejoicing in all that their Sustainer will have granted them: for their Sustainer will have warded off from them all suffering through the blazing fire. 18 They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". 19 Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 We shall provide them with fruits and the meat of the kind which they desire. 22 They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin. 23 ۞ and youths, of their own, shall pass among them as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. 25 They will say: "Behold, aforetime - when we were [still living] in the midst of our kith and kin - we were full of fear [at the thought of God's displeasure]: 26 "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. 27 Verily, we did invoke Him [alone] ere this: [and now He has shown us] that He alone is truly benign, a true dispenser of grace!" 28
