Hath the story of Abraham's honoured guests reached thee (O Muhammad)? 24 When they entered upon him, they said: Peace. Peace, said he, a strange people. 25 Then he turned quickly to his household, and brought a fatted calf, 26 and placed it before them. "Will you not eat?" he said, 27 He began to feel afraid. They said, "Do not be afraid," and then gave him the glad news of the birth of a knowledgeable son. 28 Then his wife came forward with a loud voice, she smote her face, and said: "A barren old woman!" 29 'Such, says your Lord' they replied: 'He is the Wise, the Knower' 30 ۞ Said [Abraham]: "And what [else] may you have in view, O you [heavenly] messengers?" 31 They replied: “Behold, we have been sent to a wicked people 32 That we may send down upon them stone of clay, 33 marked by your Lord for the sinful' 34 Then We brought forth such as were therein of the believers. 35 but We found not therein except one house of those that have surrendered themselves. 36 And We left there a Sign for such as fear the Grievous Penalty. 37 And in Musa: When We sent him to Firon with clear authority. 38 But (Pharaoh) turned back with his Chiefs, and said, "A sorcerer, or one possessed!" 39 We seized him and his hosts, and cast them all into the sea: and [none but Pharaoh] himself was to blame [for what happened]. 40 There is also evidence of the Truth in the story of Ad whom We struck with a violent wind 41 Which turned everything it touched to ashes. 42 And in Thamud (there is also a sign), when they were told: "Enjoy yourselves for a while!" 43 But they rebelled against the command of their Lord. So the thunderbolt overtook them while they looked on: 44 Then they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves. 45 The people of Noah who lived before them were also evil doing people. 46
