The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few from the latter. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and flowing water 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 for the people of the right hand 38
