And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you call?" 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 "And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink." 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 "Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?" 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
