And We did not create the heaven and the earth and that between them aimlessly. That is the assumption of those who disbelieve, so woe to those who disbelieve from the Fire. 27 Or shall We make those who believe and do righteous deeds as the workers of corruption in the earth, or shall We make the godfearing as the transgressors? 28 This is a Book which We have sent down upon you, a blessed Book, for them to ponder upon its verses, and for men of intellect to accept advice. 29 And We bestowed on David, Solomon. How excellent a slave! Lo! he was ever turning in repentance (toward Allah). 30 Behold, there were brought before him, at eventide coursers of the highest breeding, and swift of foot; 31 He said: verily I have loved the love of earthly good above the remembrance of my Lord until the sun hath disappeared behind the veil. 32 Return them to me!' And he began to stroke their shanks and necks. 33 And assuredly We tried Sulaiman, and set upon his throne a mere body. Thereafter he was penitent. 34 He said: My Lord! do Thou forgive me and grant me a kingdom which is not fit for (being inherited by) anyone after me; 35 Then We made the wind subservient to him; it made his command to run gently wherever he desired, 36 As also the evil ones, (including) every kind of builder and diver,- 37 And also others bound in fetters. 38 This is Our gift, so bestow thou or withhold, without rendering an account. 39 And he enjoyed, indeed, a Near Approach to Us, and a beautiful Place of (Final) Return. 40
