The Stars (Al-Najm)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Star when it setteth, 1 your companion has neither strayed nor is he deluded; 2 nor speaks he out of caprice. 3 It is but a revelation revealed. 4 One of mighty powers hath taught it him. 5 One of soundness. And he rose to [his] true form 6 And he is in the highest part of the horizon. 7 Then he drew near, then he bowed 8 And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer. 9 So did (Allah) convey the inspiration to His Servant- (conveyed) what He (meant) to convey. 10 The heart lied not (in seeing) what it saw. 11 Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he saw? 12 For indeed he saw him at a second descent, 13 Nigh unto the lote-tree at the boundary. 14 Near it is the Garden of Abode. 15 When there comes to the Lote Tree, that which comes 16 (Muhammad's) eyes did not deceive him, nor did they lead him to falsehood. 17 for indeed he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 (Among the idols) have you considered allat and al'uzza, 19 And Manat, the other third (of the pagan deities)? 20 What! unto you the males and unto Him the females? 21 This is an unfair distinction! 22 They are nothing but some names that you have coined, you and your forefathers – Allah has not sent any proof for them; they follow only guesses and their own desires; whereas the guidance from their Lord has come to them. 23 Does man imagine that whatever he wishes for is right for him? 24 So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all – the Hereafter and this world. 25
