The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
44 verses, revealed in Mecca after Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah) before The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
A beseecher besought the visitation of chastisement, 1 To the disbelievers; of it there is no preventer. 2 From God, the Lord of the steps (of progression), 3 The angels and the spirit ascend unto him in a Day the measure whereof is (as) fifty thousand years: 4 So, (O Prophet), persevere with gracious perseverance. 5 They surely take it to be far away, 6 And We see it nigh. 7 On that Day the heavens shall become like molten brass, 8 And the mountains will be like flakes of wool, 9 And no friend will ask [anything of] a friend, 10 They will be seeing them; the guilty will wish if only he could redeem himself from the punishment of that day, by offering his sons. 11 and his spouse and his brother, 12 His kindred who sheltered him, 13 and all those on earth. 14 But never. It is pure white flame 15 that will strip off the scalp. 16 It calleth him who turned and fled (from truth), 17 Who amasses and then hoards. 18 ۞ Indeed, mankind was created anxious: 19 when evil visits him, impatient, 20 And niggardly when good reaches him;- 21 Except the observers of prayer - 22 and are constant in their Prayer; 23 They are those who assign a certain share of their property 24 for such as ask [for help] and such as are deprived [of what is good in life]; 25 those who firmly believe in the Day of Recompense, 26 who are afraid of the torment of their Lord, 27 for none may ever feel secure from the punishment of their Lord; 28 And those who guard their sex except from their wives and women slaves of old 29 Except with their wives and the (women slaves and captives) whom their right hands possess, for (then) they are not to be blamed, 30 But those who trespass beyond this are transgressors;- 31 And those who keep their pledges and their covenant, 32 who testify to what they have witnessed, 33 and who guard their prayers [from all worldly intent]. 34 Those are highly honored in the Gardens. 35

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
