The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the night, when it envelops, 1 And the day when it shines in brightness, 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 And believes in the best [reward], 6 We shall surely ease him to the Path of Easing; 7 And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree, 8 and denied the Truth of goodness: 9 We will make smooth for him the path for evil; 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way, 12 And verify Ours is both the Hereafter and the life present. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 where none shall burn except the most wicked, 15 who denied [the truth], and turned away. 16 He will be far away from the most pious. (The first Caliph S. Abu Bakr Siddiq) 17 who spend for the cause of God and purify themselves. 18 not as payment for any favours that he received, 19 He desires only to please his Lord, the Supreme. 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
