The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount (Sinai), 1 by the book (Torah) written 2 In an outstretched fine parchment, 3 And by the Bait-ul-Ma'mur (the house over the heavens parable to the Ka'bah at Makkah, continuously visited by the angels); 4 Consider the vault [of heaven] raised high! 5 And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 there is none to prevent it. 8 On the day when the heaven shall move from side to side 9 and the mountains shall violently fly about. 10 Then woe, that Day, to the deniers, 11 That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles. 12 On that Day when they shall be pitched into the Fire of Gehenna (Hell), 13 This is the Fire which you used to belie. 14 What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? 15 [Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do." 16 [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 talking of what they have received from their Lord and of how their Lord has saved them from the torment of hell. 18 [And they will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer as an outcome of what you were wont to do, 19 Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 We shall provide them with fruits and the meat of the kind which they desire. 22 and in that [paradise] they shall pass on to one another a cup which will not give rise to empty talk, and neither incite to sin. 23 ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. 24 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 25 Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah). 26 But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire. 27 Formerly we had always prayed to Him. Surely He is Most Benign, Most Compassionate.” 28
