The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 and upraised couches. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
