The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, 1 And the day resplendent 2 and by the creation of the male and the female. 3 your striving is indeed to different ends! 4 As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). 7 But for those who are niggardly, horde their wealth, 8 And gives the lie to Al-Husna (see Verse No: 6 footnote); 9 We shall surely ease him to the Hardship; 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way, 12 And truly, unto Us (belong) the last (Hereafter) and the first (this world). 13 I have warned you then about a raging Fire: 14 None shall roast therein but the most wretched, 15 who denied [the truth], and turned away. 16 and from which the most godfearing shall be removed, 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 only seeking the Face of his Lord the Most High; 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
