Surely We created man of a clay of mud moulded, 26 And created the jinn before him, from smokeless fire. 27 When your Lord said to the angels: 'See, I am creating a mortal from clay of molded mud. 28 When it is properly shaped and I have blown My Spirit into it, you should then bow down in prostration". 29 So the angels fell prostrate, all of them together 30 save Iblis; he refused to be among those bowing. 31 Said He, 'What ails thee, Iblis, that thou art not among those bowing?' 32 "How could I bow," said he, "before a mortal whom You created from fermented clay dried tingling hard?" 33 Allah said: then get thee forth therefrom; verily thou art one damned. 34 And surely on you is curse until the day of judgment. 35 "O my Lord," said he, "give me respite till the day the dead are raised." 36 Said Allah, “You are of those given respite.” 37 Till the Day of appointed time. 38 He said: My Lord! Because Thou hast sent me astray, I verily shall adorn the path of error for them in the earth, and shall mislead them every one, 39 except Your sincere servants". 40 Said Allah, “This path* leads straight towards Me.” (* The path of the chosen bondmen.) 41 Lo! as for My slaves, thou hast no power over any of them save such of the froward as follow thee, 42 And verily Hell is the place promised unto them all. 43 It has seven gates; for every gate is of them a portion designated." 44
