Whatever of misfortune striketh you, it is what your right hands have earned. And He forgiveth much. 30 You cannot frustrate Him in the earth; you have no protector nor helper against Allah. 31 And among His signs are the ships that run on the sea like mountains and 32 He could stop the wind if He pleased, then they would be stranded on its surface. Surely there are signs in this for every one who perseveres and is grateful. 33 or He may cause them to founder because of people's misdeeds, He pardons many of them, 34 He knows all those who dispute His revelations. They will find no way to escape from (His torment). 35 Whatsoever you have been given is only this life's merchandise; but what is with God is better and more lasting for those who believe and place their trust in their Lord, 36 And those who avoid the greater sins, and Al-Fawahish (illegal sexual intercourse, etc.), and when they are angry, they forgive 37 who obey their Lord and establish Prayer; who conduct their affairs by consultation, and spend out of what We have bestowed upon them; 38 and who, whenever tyranny afflicts them, defend themselves. 39 But [remember that an attempt at] requiting evil may, too, become an evil: hence, whoever pardons [his foe] and makes peace, his reward rests with God - for, verily, He does not love evildoers. 40 Yet indeed, as for any who defend themselves after having been wronged - no blame whatever attaches to them: 41 The blame is only against those who wrong people, and are wrongfully insolent in the earth, for them there is a painful punishment. 42 But surely he who bears patiently and is forgiving -- surely that is true constancy. 43
