Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. 1 I swear by the illustrious Book. 2 Indeed, We have made it an Arabic Qur'an that you might understand. 3 Truly, it is inscribed in the Original Book, in Our keeping; it is sublime and full of wisdom. 4 Shall We utterly ignore you because ye are a wanton folk? 5 How many a Prophet We sent among the ancients, 6 But never yet came a prophet to them without their deriding him 7 We destroyed the strongest among them in power. The stories of the ancient people have already been mentioned. 8 And if you should ask them, Who created the heavens and the earth? they would most certainly say: The Mighty, the Knowing One, has created them; 9 He it is Who made this earth for you a cradle and made in it pathways for you that you may find the way to your destination; 10 And He it is who sends down, again and again, waters from the sky in due measure: and [as] We raise therewith dead land to life, even thus will you be brought forth [from the dead]. 11 And He it is who has created all opposites. And He [it is who] has provided for you all those ships and animals whereon you ride, 12 In order that ye may sit firm and square on their backs, and when so seated, ye may celebrate the (kind) favour of your Lord, and say, "Glory to Him Who has subjected these to our (use), for we could never have accomplished this (by ourselves), 13 And verily unto our Lord we are to return. 14 And they appoint for Him from His bondmen a part! Verily man is an ingrate manifest. 15
