The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there come on man a while of time when he was a thing unremembered? 1 Verily, it is We who have created man out of a drop of sperm intermingled, so that We might try him [in his later life]: and therefore We made him a being endowed with hearing and sight. 2 Verily We! We shewed him the way; then he becometh either thankful or ingrate. 3 Verily, We have prepared for the disbelievers iron chains, iron collars, and a blazing Fire. 4 The virtuous ones will drink from a cup containing camphor 5 a fountain at which the worshipers of Allah drink and make it gush forth abundantly; 6 they who keep their vows and fear a Day whose evil is spread; 7 And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, 8 (Saying): "We feed you seeking Allah's Countenance only. We wish for no reward, nor thanks from you. 9 for we fear from our Lord a frowning day, inauspicious. 10 Therefore Allah will guard them from the evil of that day and cause them to meet with ease and happiness; 11 And reward them, because they were patient, with garden and silk, 12 In that [garden] they will on couches recline, and will know therein neither [burning] sun nor cold severe, 13 The shades of the garden will be closely spread over them and it will be easy for them to reach the fruits. 14 And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and cups of crystal, 15 Godblets of silver, they shall have filled them to exact measure. 16 and they will be given a cup to drink flavoured with ginger, 17 (The water of) a spring therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ They will be attended by youths who will not age -- when you see them you will think them to be like sprinkled pearls -- 19 And when you see there, you shall see blessings and a great kingdom. 20 Their garments will be of fine green silk, and gold embroidery. They will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a pure drink. 21 This will be their reward and their efforts will be appreciated. 22
