We created man out of dry clay, from moulded mud, 26 whereas the invisible beings We had created, [long] before that, out of the fire of scorching winds. 27 But when your Lord said to the angels: "I am verily going to create a human being from fermented clay dried tingling hard; 28 "So, when I have fashioned him completely and breathed into him (Adam) the soul which I created for him, then fall (you) down prostrating yourselves unto him." 29 So the angels fell prostrate, all of them together 30 save Iblis: he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves. 31 God asked Iblis, "What made you not join the others in prostration?" 32 He said: I am not such that I should make obeisance to a mortal whom Thou hast created of the essence of black mud fashioned in shape. 33 He said: Then get out of it, for surely you are driven away: 34 And indeed, upon you is the curse until the Day of Recompense." 35 He said: 'My Lord, reprieve me till the Day they are raised' 36 Allah said: "Then, verily, you are of those reprieved, 37 "Till the predetermined time." 38 Said he, 'My Lord, for Thy perverting me I shall deck all fair to them in the earth, and I shall pervert them, all together, 39 Except the chosen ones among Your creatures." 40 God said, "This is the path which leads straight to Me. 41 "Certainly, you shall have no authority over My slaves, except those who follow you of the Ghawin (Mushrikun and those who go astray, criminals, polytheists, and evil-doers, etc.). 42 and for all such, behold, hell is the promised goal. 43 There are seven gates in it, and to each gate a portion of them has been allotted. 44
