The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 and a few from later times. 14 On studded thrones. 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 The Companions of the Right 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 and continuous shade, 30 And water everflowing. 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For those of the right hand. 38
