The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 The closing night, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
