The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent, 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
