(One day) the king said (to his courtiers): "I saw seven fat cows in a dream being devoured by seven lean ones, and seven ears of corn that were green and seven others that were seared. O courtiers, tell me the significance of my dream, if you know how to interpret them." 43 They replied, "It is a confused dream and we do not know the meaning of such dreams." 44 And of the two the one who was released said – and after a long time he had remembered – “I will tell you its interpretation, therefore send me forth.” 45 [And he went to see Joseph in the prison and said to him:] "Joseph, O thou truthful one! Enlighten us about [the meaning of a dream in which] seven fat cows were being devoured by seven emaciated ones, and seven green ears [of wheat appeared] next to [seven] others that were withered - so that I may return [with thy explanation] unto the people [of the court, and] that they may come to know [what manner of man thou art]!" 46 He said: ye shall sow seven years as is your went; and that which ye reap leave in its ears, except a little whereof ye may eat. 47 Then will come after that seven difficult [years] which will consume what you saved for them, except a little from which you will store. 48 "Then will come after that (period) a year in which the people will have abundant water, and in which they will press (wine and oil)." 49
