(O Muhammad), recite in the Book the account of Abraham. Most surely he was a man of truth, a Prophet. 41 [Mention] when he said to his father, "O my father, why do you worship that which does not hear and does not see and will not benefit you at all? 42 "O my father! Verily! There has come to me of knowledge that which came not unto you. So follow me. I will guide you to a Straight Path. 43 Father, do not serve Satan, for Satan has indeed been a persistent rebel against the Most Compassionate Lord. 44 “O my father, I fear that a punishment from the Most Gracious may reach you, so you would become a companion of the devil.” 45 His father replied, "Abraham, are you telling me to give-up my gods? If you will not stop this, I shall stone you to death. Leave my house and do not come back again". 46 He said, 'Peace be upon thee! I will ask my Lord to forgive thee; surely He is ever gracious to me. 47 "And I will turn away from you (all) and from those whom ye invoke besides Allah: I will call on my Lord: perhaps, by my prayer to my Lord, I shall be not unblest." 48 So, when he had withdrawn from them and that which they were worshipping beside Allah, We gave him Isaac and Jacob. Each of them We made a prophet. 49 We granted them Our blessing and high renown. 50
