The 'Ad (people) rejected the messengers. 123 Behold, their brother Hud said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? 124 I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 125 so fear you God, and obey you me. 126 And I ask of you no hire therefor: my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 127 "Do you build useless monuments on every mountain 128 And seek ye out strongholds, that haply ye may last for ever? 129 And when you lay hands (on men) you lay hands (like) tyrants; 130 "Be, then, conscious of God and pay heed unto me: 131 And fear Him Who hath aided you with that which ye know. 132 succoured you with flocks and sons, 133 "And gardens and springs. 134 'Indeed, I fear for you the chastisement of a dreadful day.' 135 They said: It is the same to us whether you admonish or are not one of the admonishers 136 That is nothing but a habit of the ancients, 137 They rejected him and We destroyed them. 138 And they denied him; therefor We destroyed them. Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 139 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 140
