Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
BEHOLD. We sent Noah unto his people. [Saying:] "Warn thy people ere grievous suffering befall them! 1 He said: "O my people! Verily, I am a plain warner to you, 2 Worship Allah, and fear Him, and obey me. 3 "So He may forgive you your sins and give you respite for a stated Term: for when the Term given by Allah is accomplished, it cannot be put forward: if ye only knew." 4 Noah said, "My Lord, I have been preaching to my people, night and day, 5 but my call has only increased them in running away. 6 And every time I called them so that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears and wrapped up their faces with their garments and obstinately clung to their attitude, and waxed very proud. 7 "And behold I called unto them openly; 8 Then I announced to them and [also] confided to them secretly 9 “I therefore told them, ‘Seek forgiveness from your Lord; He is indeed Most Forgiving.’ 10 He will shower upon you torrents from heaven, 11 and will aid you with worldly goods and children, and will bestow upon you gardens, and bestow upon you running waters. 12 What aileth you that ye expect not in Allah majesty! 13 And surely He hath created you by stages. 14 Do you not see how God has created the seven heavens one above another, 15 and has placed the moon in them as a light, and the sun as a radiant lamp? 16 And Allah has caused you to grow out of the earth so wondrously, 17 Then He will return you into it and extract you [another] extraction. 18 And Allah has made for you the earth an expanse 19 that thereof you may thread ways, ravines." 20
