The Night (Al-Layl)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, 1 And by oath of the day when it shines 2 Consider the creation of the male and the female! 3 Verily, [O men,] you aim at most divergent ends! 4 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, 5 And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,- 6 We will pave his way to ease. 7 And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree, 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 for him shall We make easy the path towards hardship: 10 And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. 11 It is indeed for Us to show the way, 12 And verify Ours is both the Hereafter and the life present. 13 So, I warn you of the blazing Fire. 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 who belied and turned away, 16 He will be far away from the most pious. (The first Caliph S. Abu Bakr Siddiq) 17 even he who gives his wealth. to purify himself 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 acting only for the sake of his Lord the Most High -- 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
