20 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Pen (Al-Qalam) before The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O you wrapped in garments (i.e. Prophet Muhammad SAW)! 1 Stand up for worship during the night, except for some part of it. 2 Half of it - or subtract from it a little 3 or add to it a little; and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly. 4 For we shall charge thee with a word of weight. 5 Indeed, the hours of the night are more effective for concurrence [of heart and tongue] and more suitable for words. 6 True, there is for thee by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties: 7 But keep in remembrance the name of thy Lord and devote thyself to Him whole-heartedly. 8 Lord of the East and the West; there is no god but He; so take Him for a Guardian. 9 And have patience with what they say, and leave them with noble (dignity). 10 Leave those to Me who deny, the lovers of ease and comfort; and bear with them for a while. 11 Lo! with Us are heavy fetters and a raging fire, 12 And food that chokes, and a painful punishment. 13 On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down. 14 Verily We! We have sent unto you an apostle, a witness over you, even as We sent unto Fir'awn an apostle. 15 But the Pharaoh disobeyed the apostle; so We seized him with a grievous punishment. 16 So how will you save yourselves, if you disbelieve, on a day that will turn children old? 17 The very heaven being then rent asunder. His promise is to be fulfilled. 18 This is indeed an advice; so whoever wishes may take the path towards his Lord. 19

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
