The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great news - 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 Requital corresponding. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
