Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the scatterers (the wind) scattering, 1 And those that lift and bear away heavy weights; 2 then the easy runners (the ships); 3 And those [angels] apportioning [each] matter, 4 Verily, that which you are promised (i.e. Resurrection in the Hereafter and receiving the reward or punishment of good or bad deeds, etc.) is surely true. 5 And verily, the Recompense is sure to happen. 6 CONSIDER the firmament full of starry paths! 7 Lo! ye, forsooth, are of various opinion (concerning the truth). 8 Deluded away from the Qur'an is he who is deluded. 9 Accursed be the conjecturers 10 who are dazed in perplexity 11 They ask: "When is the Day of Judgement?" -- 12 [It will be] a Day when they will be sorely tried by the fire, 13 and will be told, "Suffer the torment which you wanted to experience immediately". 14 Surely the godfearing shall be among gardens and fountains 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord has given them. Verily, they were before this Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 16 Little of the night they were wont to slumber. 17 and in the mornings they would ask for forgiveness; 18 And in their wealth the beggar and the outcast had due share. 19 In the earth are signs for those having sure faith; 20 And in your own selves; so can you not perceive? 21 In heaven is your sustenance, and also that which you are promised. 22 for, by the Sustainer of heaven and earth, this [life after death] is the very truth - as true as that you are endowed with speech! 23
