Remind them, therefore, that by the grace of your Lord you are neither a soothsayer nor possessed. 29 Or do they say:- "A Poet! we await for him some calamity (hatched) by Time!" 30 Say thou: "Await ye!- I too will wait along with you!" 31 Or, do their intellects order them to do this? Or, are they an insolent people? 32 Do they say, "He has falsely invented it (the Quran)?" In fact, they themselves have no faith. 33 Then let them produce a statement like it, if they should be truthful. 34 Or were they created without there being anything, or are they the creators? 35 Or have they created the heavens and the earth? In fact they are certain of nothing. 36 Or are thy Lord's treasuries in their keeping? Or are they the registrars? 37 Or have they a ladder whereon they listen? Then let any of them that has listened bring a clear authority. 38 Or has He daughters, and they sons? 39 Or do you ask them for a reward, so that they are overburdened by a debt? 40 Do they possess knowledge of the unseen, so that they can write it down? 41 Or do they want to stage a deception? -- Then only those who do not believe will be the ones who will be tricked. 42 Or have they a god other than God? Exalted be God over what they ascribe as partners [to Him]! 43 (So obstinate are they that) even if they were to see some fragments of the sky falling down they would still say: “It is only a mass of cloud.” 44 Then leave them, till they encounter their day wherein they shall be thunderstruck, 45 Their deception will not avail them in the least on that day, nor will they be helped. 46 But, verily, for those who are bent on doing evil, there is suffering in store [even] closer at hand than that [supreme suffering in the hereafter]: but most of them are not aware of it. 47 So wait patiently (O Muhammad SAW) for the Decision of your Lord, for verily, you are under Our Eyes, and glorify the Praises of your Lord when you get up from sleep. 48 and glorify Him after the setting of the stars. 49
