The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 The night a covering, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 a fitting requital, 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
