Surely We created man of a clay of mud moulded, 26 And the jinn did We create aforetime of essential fire. 27 And when thy Lord said to the angels, 'See, I am creating a mortal of a clay of mud moulded. 28 When it is properly shaped and I have blown My Spirit into it, you should then bow down in prostration". 29 So the angels fell prostrate, all of them together 30 But Iblis did not; he refused to be with the prostrates. 31 He said: O Iblis! what excuse have you that you are not with those who make obeisance? 32 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "I am not the one to prostrate myself to a human being, whom You created from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud." 33 The Lord said: "Then get out of here; you are rejected, 34 "And the curse shall be on thee till the day of Judgment." 35 He said, "My Lord, then reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected." 36 (Allah) said: "Respite is granted thee 37 Till the period of the time made known. 38 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Because you misled me, I shall indeed adorn the path of error for them (mankind) on the earth, and I shall mislead them all. 39 except for Your chosen servants." 40 He said: This is a right course incumbent upon Me: 41 Verily as for My bondmen, no authority shalt thou have over them, except the erring one who follow thee. 42 And lo! for all such, hell will be the promised place. 43 It has seven gates and each gate is assigned for a certain group of people. 44
