And when We said unto the angels: Fall prostrate before Adam, they fell prostrate (all) save Iblis; he refused. 116 We said, "Adam, this (satan) is your enemy and the enemy of your spouse. Let him not expel you and your spouse from Paradise lest you plunge into misery. 117 "There is therein (enough provision) for thee not to go hungry nor to go naked, 118 “And that you never feel thirsty nor hot sunshine hurt you.” 119 But then Satan tempted him by saying: "O Adam, should I show you the tree of immortality, and a kingdom that will never know any wane?" 120 Adam and his wife ate (fruits) from the tree and found themselves naked. Then they started to cover themselves with the leaves from the garden. Adam disobeyed his Lord and went astray. 121 Thereafter his Lord chose him, and turned again unto him, and He guided him. 122 (And) said: "Go down hence together, one the enemy of the other. Then will guidance come to you from Me; and whoever follows My direction will neither be disgraced nor be miserable. 123 And whoever turns away from My remembrance - indeed, he will have a depressed life, and We will gather him on the Day of Resurrection blind." 124 He will say: O my Lord! why hast Thou gathered me sightless whereas surely I have been a seer. 125 Allah will say: Thus came Our signs unto thee and thou ignoredst them; so that wise today thou shalt be ignored. 126 And that is how We requite him who is extravagant and does not believe the signs of his Lord; and surely the punishment of the Hereafter is far more severe and persistent. 127 Is it not a guidance to them, how many generations We destroyed before them in whose dwelling places they walk? Surely, in this there are signs for those of reason. 128
