(Remember) Noah, when he cried (to Us) aforetime: We listened to his (prayer) and delivered him and his family from great distress. 76 and helped him against the nation who had belied Our signs. They were an evil nation; We drowned them all. 77 And Dawood and Sulaiman when they gave judgment concerning the field when the people's sheep pastured therein by night, and We were bearers of witness to their judgment. 78 To Solomon We inspired the (right) understanding of the matter: to each (of them) We gave Judgment and Knowledge; it was Our power that made the hills and the birds celebrate Our praises, with David: it was We Who did (all these things). 79 We taught him the art of making coats of mail so that you could protect yourselves during a war. Will you then give thanks? 80 And We subdued the strongly raging wind to Solomon which blew at his bidding towards the land We blessed. We know everything. 81 And We subdued many devils who dived (into the sea) for him and carried out other jobs besides that. We kept watch over all of them. 82 ۞ And (remember) Ayub (Job), when he cried to his Lord: "Verily, distress has seized me, and You are the Most Merciful of all those who show mercy." 83 whereupon We responded unto him and removed all the affliction from which he suffered; and We gave him new offspring, doubling their number as an act of grace from Us, and as a reminder unto all who worship Us. 84 Ismael, Idris and Dhul Kifl all were people of great patience. 85 We admitted them to Our Mercy, for they were of the righteous. 86 Remember the man in the whale [Jonah] when he went away in anger, thinking We had no power over him. But he cried out in the darkness, "There is no deity but You. Glory be to You! I was indeed wrong." 87 We therefore heard his prayer and rescued him from grief; and similarly We shall rescue the Muslims. 88 (Remember) Zachariah when he called to his Lord: "Do not leave me alone (and childless), for you are the best of givers." 89 So We answered him, and We bestowed on him Yahya and We made sound for him his spouse. Verily they were wont to vie with one another in good deeds and to call upon us with longing and dread, and they were ever before us meek. 90 Into the woman who maintained her chastity We breathed Our Spirit and made her and her son a miracle for all people. 91 Indeed this religion of yours, is one religion; and I am your Lord, therefore worship Me. 92 People have divided themselves into many sects, but all will return to Us. 93
