The Thamud gave the lie to the Messengers. 141 Their brother Salih asked them, "Why do you not fear God? 142 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you 143 "So fear Allah, and obey me. 144 For this I demand no recompense from you; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 145 "Will ye be left secure, in (the enjoyment of) all that ye have here? 146 amidst the gardens, springs, 147 And fields of crops and palm trees with softened fruit? 148 You hew dwellings in mountains and exult in that. 149 Therefor keep your duty to Allah and obey me, 150 and do not follow the biddings of those that go to excesses 151 who do corruption in the earth, and set not things aright.' 152 They replied: "You are nothing but one of those who are bewitched; 153 Thou art but a mortal like us. So bring some token if thou art of the truthful. 154 He said, “This is the she-camel one day shall be her turn to drink, and on the other appointed day, shall be your turn.” 155 And do not touch her with harm, lest you be seized by the punishment of a terrible day." 156 But they hamstrung her, and in the morning they were remorseful, 157 But the Penalty seized them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 158 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 159

Notes and Instructions
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
