Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 By oath of the clear Qur’an. 2 behold, We have caused it to be a discourse in the Arabic tongue, so that you might encompass it with your reason. 3 It is inscribed in the original Book (of Books) with Us, sublime, dispenser of (all) laws. 4 So shall We divert the advice away from you, because you are a nation that exceeds the limits? 5 And how many a prophet We sent among the ancients. 6 But never did a prophet come at whom they did not scoff. 7 so We destroyed those who were mightier than these; such was the example of the earlier peoples. 8 If thou wert to question them, 'Who created the heavens and the earth?' They would be sure to reply, 'they were created by (Him), the Exalted in Power, Full of Knowledge';- 9 Who hath made for you the earth a bed, and hath made for you paths therein that haply ye may be directed. 10 And who sends down rain from the sky in measured amounts, and We revive thereby a dead land - thus will you be brought forth - 11 and who created the pairs, all of them, and appointed for you ships and cattle such as you ride, 12 So that you may properly mount their backs, and may remember your Lord’s favour when you have mounted them, and say, “Purity is to Him, Who has given this ride in our control, and we did not have the strength for it.” 13 Hence, verily, it is unto Him that we must always turn." 14 Yet they make some of His servants partners in His divinity. Man is clearly ungrateful! 15
