The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O YOU ENFOLDED in your mantle (of reform), 1 Rise up and warn! 2 And thy Sustainer's greatness glorify! 3 And thine inner self purify! 4 and flee from the statues! 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 But, for thy Lord's (Cause), be patient and constant! 7 When the Trumpet is sounded, 8 that very Day shall be a day of anguish, 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave Me alone, (to deal) with the (creature) whom I created (bare and) alone!- 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 and children living in his presence, 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 No! Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate. 16 [and so] I shall constrain him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 And woe to him! How he plotted!- 19 Again, may he be cursed how he plotted; 20 Then looked he, 21 Then frowned he and scowled. 22 Then he turned back and was haughty; 23 Then he said: naught is this but magic from of old; 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 Him shall I soon roast in Hell. 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 Darkening and changing the colour of man! 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire. We have specified their number only as a trial for those who are bent on denying the truth, so that those who were given the Book might gain in certainty, and those who believe might increase in faith -- and so that neither those who have been given the Scripture nor the believers might have any doubts, and that those sick at heart and those who deny the truth might ask, "What does God mean by this parable?" In this way, God lets go astray whom He wills, and guides whom He wills. And none knows the forces of your Lord but He. This is but a Reminder for man. 31

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
