He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 to a rich man, 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 and fearfully, 9 You neglect. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 On honourable pages. 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 noble and purified. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 and let the earth to break open 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and clover, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 wife and sons, 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 with darkness overspread: 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
