Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In a high Garden 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 and couches raised high, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
