Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The sure calamity! 1 What is the sure calamity! 2 And what will make you realize what the Inevitable Hour is? 3 The Thamud and the Ad denied the (possibility of a) sudden calamity, calling it false. 4 So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. 5 And as for 'Aad they were destroyed by a wind, furious, roaring. 6 violent that He compelled against them seven nights and eight days, uninterruptedly, and thou mightest see the people laid prostrate in it as if they were the stumps of fallen down palm-trees. 7 Can you see any of their survivors? 8 And Firon and those before him and the overthrown cities continuously committed sins. 9 They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord and He seized them with torment which increased with time. 10 And when the waters rose (high) We carried you in the sailing (Ark), 11 that We might make it a reminder for you and for heeding ears to hold. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound one blast 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be borne and the twain shall be crushed with a single crash. 14 And so, that which must come to pass will on that day have come to pass; 15 and heaven shall be split, for upon that day it shall be very frail, 16 On its fringes will be angels, eight of them, bearing their Lord's throne aloft. 17 On that day ye will be exposed; not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say: Lo! read my book: 19 Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." 20 So he will be in a pleasant life - 21 in a lofty Garden, 22 Whereof the clusters are in easy reach. 23 Eat and drink with benefit for that which ye sent on beforehand in days past. 24 But whosoever gets his ledger in his left hand, will say: "Would that I were never given my ledger, 25 "And that I had never known, how my Account is? 26 Would it had been the end! 27 Our wealth is of no benefit to us 28 Vanished has my power from me." 29 [Thereupon the command will go forth:] "Lay hold of him, and shackle him, 30 Then into Hellfire drive him. 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 He did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 nor did he urge the feeding of the needy. 34 “So he does not have any friend here this day.” 35 Nor food other than suppuration (filth) 36 which only the sinners will eat.” 37
