Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 therein a running fountain, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 And cups put in place 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
