And indeed, We created man from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud. 26 And the jinn We created before from scorching fire. 27 And recall what time thy Lord said unto the angels: verily I am about to create a man from ringing clay of loam moulded. 28 Then when I have formed him and breathed into him of My Spirit fall down unto him prostrate. 29 So the angels made obeisance, all of them together, 30 save Iblis; he refused to be among those bowing. 31 Said Allah, “O Iblis! What happened to you that you stayed apart from those who prostrated?” 32 Said he, 'I would never bow myself before a mortal whom Thou hast created of a clay of mud moulded.' 33 He said: Then get out of it, for surely you are driven away: 34 and will be subjected to condemnation until the Day of Judgment." 35 "O my Lord," said he, "give me respite till the day the dead are raised." 36 Allah said: verily then thou art of the respited: 37 for an appointed time." 38 [Whereupon Iblis] said: "O my Sustainer! Since Thou hast thwarted me, I shall indeed make [all that is evil] on earth seem goodly to them, and shall most certainly beguile them - into grievous error 39 “Except those among them who are Your chosen bondmen.” 40 (Allah) said: "This is the Way which will lead straight to Me." 41 Over My true servants you will be able to exercise no power, your power will be confined to the erring ones, those who choose to follow you. 42 And indeed, Hell is the promised place for them all. 43 "It (Hell) has seven gates, for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned. 44
