The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O you who are clothed! 1 Arise, and warn. 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 stay away from sins 5 And do not through giving seek thyself to gain, 6 But, for thy Lord's (Cause), be patient and constant! 7 For when the trumpet is sounded, 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 for the unbelievers not easy. 10 Leave Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 and to whose life I gave so wide a scope: 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 May be then be accursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he looked around, 21 Then he frowned and he scowled; 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 Then said he: "This is nothing but magic, derived from of old; 24 This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 It scorches people's skin 29 Over it are nineteen [angels]. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
