I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 Consider the night when it departs, 33 And the daybreak when it shines; 34 Verily, it (Hell, or their denial of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, or the Day of Resurrection) is but one of the greatest calamities. 35 a warning to mortal man 36 To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 “What drove you to Hell?” 42 They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salat (prayers) 43 nor did we feed the destitute. 44 And we have been wading with the waders. 45 And we used to deny the Day of Recompense 46 until the inevitable event overtook us.” 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 Why then do they turn away from the admonition 49 like frightened donkeys 50 running away from a lion? 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 By no means! Aye, they fear not the Hereafter. 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 so whoever wills shall remember it. 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
