The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Surely there hath come upon man a space of time when he was not a thing worth mentioning. 1 Verily, We have created man from Nutfah drops of mixed semen (discharge of man and woman), in order to try him, so We made him hearer, seer. 2 Lo! We have shown him the way, whether he be grateful or disbelieving. 3 Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains, fetters, and a Blaze. 4 Surely the devotees will drink cups flavoured with palm blossoms 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah drink, making it gush forth abundantly, 6 They fulfill vows and fear a day the evil of which shall be spreading far and wide. 7 And out of His love, they give food to the needy, the orphan and the prisoner. 8 [saying, in their hearts,] "We feed you for the sake of God alone: we desire no recompense from you, nor thanks: 9 Verily we dread from our Lord a Day grim and distressful. 10 Wherefore Allah shall preserve them from the evil of that Day, and shall cause them to meet brightness and joy. 11 And hath awarded them for all that they endured, a Garden and silk attire; 12 Reclining therein on raised couches, they shall find therein neither (the severe heat of) the sun nor intense cold. 13 And the shades of the (Garden) will come low over them, and the bunches (of fruit), there, will hang low in humility. 14 and passed around them shall be silver vessels, and crystal goblets, 15 (Transparent as) glass, made of silver; they have measured them according to a measure. 16 And in that [paradise] they will be given to drink of a cup flavoured with ginger, 17 drawn from a spring (in Paradise) called Salsabil. 18 ۞ Immortal youths shall go about them; when thou seest them, thou supposest them scattered pearls, 19 And when thou lookest them thou shalt behold delight and a dominion magnificent. 20 Upon them there will be garments of green silk, rich brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure beverage to drink. 21 [And it will be said], "Indeed, this is for you a reward, and your effort has been appreciated." 22
