The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to those that deal in fraud,- 1 Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full, 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 unto a mighty day 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 9 Ah the woe that day for those who deny, 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn. 14 Nay, verily, from [the grace of] their Sustainer shall they on that Day be debarred; 15 then they shall roast in Hell. 16 Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! 17 Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - 18 And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is? 19 a written record, 20 The ones nearest to God will bring it to public. 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 The spring from which drink the ones close to Allah. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And when the believers used to pass by, they used to gesture at each other with their eyes. 30 When they returned to their people they returned jesting; 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, “Indeed they have gone astray.” 32 And they were not sent to be keepers over them. 33 On the Day of Judgment, the believers will laugh at the disbelievers 34 On high thrones, watching. 35 Will not the disbelievers then be duly recompensed for their laughing at the believers? 36
