The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
[All] praise is [due] to Allah, who has sent down upon His Servant the Book and has not made therein any deviance. 1 unswerving. To warn of great violence from Him, and to give good tidings to the believers who do good deeds that theirs shall be a goodly wage 2 They will abide therein for ever. 3 And warn those who say: Allah has taken a son. 4 No knowledge have they of such a thing, nor had their fathers. Mighty is the word that comes out of their mouths [i.e. He begot (took) sons and daughters]. They utter nothing but a lie. 5 Will you kill yourself for grief of them if they do not believe in this presentation? 6 Indeed, We have made that which is on the earth adornment for it that We may test them [as to] which of them is best in deed. 7 And lo! We shall make all that is thereon a barren mound. 8 Do you think that the people of the Cave and the Inscription (the news or the names of the people of the Cave) were a wonder among Our Signs? 9 Recall what time the youths betook themselves to the cave, then said: our Lord! vouchsafe unto us mercy from before Thee, and prepare for us in our affair a right course. 10 We lulled them to sleep in that cave for a number of years 11 Then We awakened them that We might show which of the two factions was most precise in calculating what [extent] they had remained in time. 12
