And recite to them the tiding of Abraham 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 Said he: "Do [you really think that] they hear you when you invoke them, 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 instead of God? Can these [things and beings] be of any help to you or to themselves?" 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
