It was We Who created man, and We know what dark suggestions his soul makes to him: for We are nearer to him than (his) jugular vein. 16 Since the two scribes are sitting on each of his shoulders, he does not utter a word which is not recorded immediately by the watchful scribes. 17 Not a word does he (or she) utter, but there is a watcher by him ready (to record it). 18 And the hardship of death came with the truth; “This is what you were escaping from!” 19 And the Trumpet was blown; “This is the Day of the promised punishment.” 20 And every soul shall come, with it a driver and a witness. 21 You were heedless of this, but now We have removed your veil, so your sight today is sharp. 22 And his companions shall say: This is what is ready with me. 23 (And it will be said): "Both of you throw (Order from Allah to the two angels) into Hell, every stubborn disbeliever (in the Oneness of Allah, in His Messengers, etc.). 24 hinderer of good, transgressor, causing others to doubt, 25 "Who set up another god beside Allah: Throw him into a severe penalty." 26 ۞ Man's other self' will say: "O our Sustainer! It was not I that led his conscious mind into evil [nay,] but it had gone far astray [of its own accord]! 27 He will say: "Dispute not with each other in My Presence: I had already in advance sent you Warning. 28 My Word is not changed; and never do I inflict the least wrong upon My servants.” 29
