The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and shade extended, 30 and gushing water, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For those on the right. 38
